ACSI Competitions

Over this school year, Valley Christian  School has already participated in three intense competitions held by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). Even after this, we still have one more! The competitions Valley has participated in include Speech Meet, Math Olympics, Writing Festival, and Science Fair. Sara Castillon is the only person participating in the coming Science Fair, and I know you will all cheer her on! First of all, the Writing Festival is a way to express and show your skill as a writer. The competition started in the beginning of the school year, but those who received a higher reward are being placed into the competition again! Those still in the competition, Jasmin Ibanez and Carly Diego, are competing to have their essays and poems published! I just want to let you know, almost every student in Valley Christian School participated and won a prize in this competition. Then, Math Olympics is a test to find future mathematicians. Our very own Alex, Grace, and Andrew won an award! Alex and Andrew won 3rd place for their categories! Then, Grace won 5th place for her category. Many people received a participation award. These people include Caleb Rogers, Trevor Dalzell in 4th grade, Brooke Ferguson, Joshua Marion, Tyler Munoz, and Alex Chung in 5th grade, and Natalie Salgado, John Wortman, Andrew Barsoumian, and me, Kai Goodman. Everyone did such a great job! Next, the Speech Meet helps students improve in public speaking. Everybody who participated at least went home with a ribbon, which is really hard to do. John Wortman got a "Good Ribbon." Isabella Mateo also received a "Good Ribbon." I also earned good ribbon. Natalie Salgado received an "Excellent Ribbon" and placed 2nd place earning a silver medal. Jasmin earned a "Superior Ribbon" for placing 2nd place in her category earning a silver medal. Sara Castillon got an "Excellent Ribbon." Chayah Palmer received an "Excellent Ribbon." Grace Edwards was rewarded a "Superior Ribbon" and a bronze medal, 3rd place in her section. Katelynn Wortman received a "Superior Ribbon" and was placed 2nd place in her section earning a silver medal. Aloha Carstens also earned a "Superior Ribbon" and received a bronze medal earning the title of 3rd place. Carly Diago received a "Superior Ribbon" and a gold medal earning 1st place. Great job to all these participants! As you can see, Valley Christian School has some very smart students!
