Carly's Verse Reflection 8th
This year’s school verse, 2 Corinthians 8:7, will challenge me to get out of my summer mindset and work vigorously to surpass the goals of which I have set for myself. In the beginning of the aforementioned verse, Paul writes, “…excel in everything…” Granted that the dictionary definition of excel is to ‘be exceptionally good at’, this man’s God-breathed words are advising me to strive to receive the best possible results in anything I endeavor. When dealing with my own means of excelling, the most efficient method is to dedicate more time than I would consider desirable to any given obligation. This year especially, I am aiming to get closer to God by setting aside time to read my Bible daily. Though this is by no means an undesirable task, it has proven to be difficult to maintain, and the excerpt from Scripture can encourage me to sustain my goal throughout the entire school year. Much like this is another theme of the letter addressed to the church in Corinth: knowledge. The definition of knowledge, according to the verse, is, “information, understanding, or skill that you get from experience or education”. This pertains to my previous statement considering the attainment of knowledge comes with patience and persistence. If such things involve a less than convenient amount of time spent on one assignment, then so be it. No matter the circumstance, however, this verse is certain to assist me in maintaining excellence (both biblical and academic) throughout the 2017/2018 school year.
