D.M Klondike poem

D.M Klondike poem

Many men would fear these temps

Many would dismay

They feel they need to provide their family

With money they don’t obtain

And provide the protection they dearly need

But when they reach those freezing temps

The true men are revealed

Some push on through thick and thin

Some don’t make it through the night

Some struck rich with enough to give away

The ones that weren’t so lucky would just to waste away

The roads were narrow

The times were tough

Avalanches would kill hundreds and men would just walk by

The women weren’t allowed to go

They claimed it was a mans job

Wives would become widows

And be left with nothing to carry away

People would bring food with them but soon it would perish

When most men got to the Klondike there was no gold left to pan

Many stayed there the rest of their life’s with no way to return

Many men would fear these temps
