Fictional Narrative Directions

Fictional Narrative Directions

  1. Fill out your "Elements of Fiction" note sheet to review all of the parts that will go into your fictional narrative short story.
  2. On a separate paper, write or type out the details for each section of your Story Blueprint.
  3. You will take your story blueprint and create a story using the guidelines below. Your story will be graded using the “Fictional Short Story Rubric” for Language Arts class, and you will have the opportunity to enter it in for nomination to the ACSI Creative Writing Festival.

Short Story: 600 - 1600 words

Short Story -

The story may deal with a spiritual or historical personality, theme, or idea. The writer must stay within the bounds of moral and acceptable subject matter. The personalities may be of any era. The story may be, but is not limited to, fantasy, mystery, or comedy. It may also be true to life. A story should have a clear beginning and end, and should contain a conflict and a climax. The work does not have to be spiritual in nature, but a spiritual application is encouraged if appropriate. Avoid potentially offensive themes.
