 STEP TWO: Read the following poems (one per link) and follow the directions below for each poem.

On a separate piece of paper: 

Underline words you don’t know, and look them up in the dictionary.  Then answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper with your partner. 

Questions:

  1. What is the theme?
  2. What is the mood?
  3. What are the lengths of the lines?
  4. Do any of the lines rhyme?
  5. Are any words repeated?
  6. How does the punctuation differ from an essay or book?
