About Us

At Valley Christian School, we are grateful to the LORD for allowing us the privilege of partnering in ministry with parents in educating their children. VCS exists primarily to serve as an extension of the Christian home. We strive to uphold the same values taught by parents and Bible-believing churches.

Our school campus currently serves students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. We offer a well-rounded, Christ-centered program which includes exemplary academics, daily worship, weekly chapel presentations, Physical Education, art, and technology.

VCS was created in 1978 by a group of families attending Valley Bible Church in San Marcos. They felt the need to provide a Christ-centered education for their families and offer an alternative to the local public school system. With a focus on Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of education, VCS became a nurturing environment offering the quality education that parents desire for their children. We value the partnership teachers have with parents in equipping students to become leaders, to serve God, their families, and to positively impact their communities and the world.

The Quest for Excellence

The Quest for Excellence is a concerted effort by all associated with Valley Christian School to reach the highest standards of educational achievement. To do so, we must be good stewards of our time, our talents and our treasure. With the Quest for Excellence, there is a focus on stewardship of our treasure through fund development in support of the areas outlined on this page. Stewardship of our time and talents is integral to any development within Valley Christian School.

Attract outstanding students to serve as leaders in their future professions, our nation and the world. Training at VCS prepares alumni who will remain committed to excellence and bring a renewed respect to the cause of Jesus Christ within their spheres of professional and personal influence.

The administration works to attract and retain quality teachers who are committed to your children and the ministry of VCS. The faculty takes seriously the goal of educating students academically, spiritually, and socially.

VCS offers one of the most excellent educational opportunities in our community by providing top-notch educational materials and activities that nurture the student's creative and academic abilities. Students are encouraged to continually challenge themselves in all areas of learning.

We maintain our permanent school facilities to provide a safe place of learning. Goals are continually being set to increase the opportunities to upgrade our campus to give students quality experiences that enhance learning.

VCS seeks to effectively make disciples as Jesus Christ directed in The Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20). Students are presented with the Gospel and given the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord. We want students to mature in their Christian walk by following the examples of their teachers, studying the Bible, and praying.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to bring honor to Jesus Christ through Christian education. Our priority is to draw all students to a complete faith in Jesus Christ, by training them to live a selfless life, pleasing to Him. We will provide a strong academic ministry that prepares students to understand God and the world He created, “For by Him were all things created that are in Heaven... and by Him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:16-17)

VCS's faculty will present a Bible-centered philosophy of education. Our policies are designed to develop Christian character, and we will point students to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

We appreciate you choosing us as your “governors until the time appointed of the Father” (Galatians 4:2). We appreciate your affirmation in backing this school through prayer support, financial support, and support of the school policies and rules. We expect you to be in harmony with the spiritual, academic, and social purposes of the school. While we realize that no two mortals will agree on everything, we value your trust and support of our school's administration and Valley Bible Church's Board of Elders.

Valley Christian School emphasizes the need for each student to reach his or her full potential in academic achievement. As a Christian School, we are dedicated to a balanced approach of teaching the dynamics of living a Christ-centered life, along with a firm foundation of education skills. We view our task through the lens of the following convictions:

In Proverbs 22:6, it is written: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Parents are the child’s first and most important teachers. It is an awesome responsibility, and we will help, support, and guide you as needed.

The mandate of the Church of Jesus Christ is to “Go...and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Although Valley Christian School is not designed as a direct outreach to our community, we do have two goals:

  • We seek to do all that is within our ability to provide each of the students with opportunities to develop an active, thriving relationship with our Lord and Savior.
  • We seek to build into each student the skills that are necessary to intelligently and confidently represent Jesus Christ to the world.

Valley Christian School (VCS) is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International. ACSI provides an ongoing training and support program for teachers, faculty, and administrators to ensure excellence in every area of the Christian school program.

Students and parents are encouraged to regularly attend a Bible-believing church. To live a Christian life, a student needs consistent support from church, home and school.

VCS is an extension of, not a substitute for, the Christian home that trains students in a Christian environment for time and eternity. The staff works closely with parents to train the whole child. It is our desire at Valley Christian School to have “quality in the classroom and build character in the student.”

Attendance at this school is a PRIVILEGE and not a right. The goal of this school is to train students of every ability in the highest principles of Christian leadership, self-discipline, individual responsibility, personal integrity, and good citizenship. Valley Christian School is not designed to reform a child who has been perpetually in trouble at previous schools.

VCS stands, without apology, for the Gospel and the highest standard of morality and Christian behavior.
